Sustrans, The Bench Project WIP

I was commissioned by Sustrans in winter 2023/2024 and here I share some working progress images of the project.

I had the joy of facilitating 10 creative workshops with a brilliant mix of community groups across Renfrewshire - from primary and high school pupils to care home residents, adults with disabilities, and Sustrans volunteers.

Together, we co-designed five bespoke benches for the N75 cycle path between Paisley and Elderslie

Through nature-based mark-making and sculpture using foraged materials, each group explored local flora that where featured on each bench; mushrooms, ferns, flowers, leaves, apples. I designed the 5 benches and they are awaiting manufacturing. A huge thank you to my friend Jere Suominen for the stunning modelling and rendering, and of course thankyou to Bruce E. Phillips for commissioning me and the project.
